Good People Reviews
LA Weekly- Recommended
"...Lindsay-Abaire grew up in South Boston, as is evident in the insightful compassion with which he's drawn each of these characters and the familiar down-home dialogue that consistently rings true. The staging is spare and constrained by the limits of the venue, but director Christine Dunford oversees a quality ensemble in an excellent play that's worth checking out."

"...The show ends in joy and happiness after its richly entertaining, mostly hilarious roller coaster ride that hits a deep dark side and the reemerges better for the experience. There is no question but that "Good People" is one of those all too rare independent small theatrical productions that has outstanding merit and deserves wide spread attention. The entire acting team is top drawer but with four clear stand outs. Kia Hellman is simply unstoppable as the anguished single mother Margaret. Marsha Morgan excels as Dottie with a never ending stream of hilarious quips. Shayne Anderson is compelling as the slightly arrogant yet clearly flawed Dr. Mike and his wife Kate is portrayed with huge elegance and style by Keiana Richard. All in all this is as close as it gets to a true must see show."

"...Written with HEARTFELT PASSION and "true to life" humor by David Lindsay-Abaire and directed with COMEDIC FLAIR by Christine Dunford, this is an ambitiously fine production."

"...Good People is intelligent, thought-provoking, real, and a reminder that there is no one measure of success. Just because someone has degrees and a fancy home does not mean they are any happier, and just because someone else might not know how this month's bills will get paid does not necessarily mean they are struggling or lacking. You can't judge a book by its cover, and sometimes you find the truly good people where you least expect them."

"...This production of "Good People" is utterly brilliant and a shining example of just how truly wonderful LA small theatre can be...I highly and thoroughly recommend "Good People" at The Hudson Guild Theatre."

"...With complex emotions and bitter humor, Christine Dunford directs a production without a hitch, highlighting blue-collar life, which is not always easy to deliver. Some of the best laughs come from the conflict between Marsha Morgan as Dottie, Margie's landlord and sometimes friend and babysitter, and Laura House as Jean, Margie's longtime friend who always has her back. Both women kill it, not only with their lines but also with how they bring their characters to life with little actions on stage. Shayne Anderson plays Mike with the perfect contrast of nice guy with an air about him that you are not quite sure whether he is one of the Good People who get out and get lucky or just another ungrateful person with economic and social graces. Kia Hellman was definitely the star of the show as Margie, who plays her character so well that you will feel for her and relate to her circumstances regardless of your own."
