Frida-Stroke of Passion
1107 N. Kings Road West Hollywood
While Frida Kahlo's death certificate alleges "pulmonary embolism" as cause of death, no autopsy was allowed, and she was immediately cremated. Frida - Stroke of Passion explores Kahlo's mental, emotional and physical condition during the last week of her life, exposing her love affair with famous Mexican singer Chavela Vargas, film star Maria Felix, dancer and singer Josephine Baker, Communist intellectual Leon Trotsky, a Cuban spy and her complex, passionate love for painter Diego Rivera. The play, starring Odalys Nanin as Kahlo, features live music and iconic Latin Classic songs like "La Llorona," "Think of Me," "Macorina," "Estan son Las Mananita," and more.
