Fryer, this world premiere drama by New York-based playwright/psychiatrist Guy Fredrick Glass tackles the controversial subject of gay conversion therapy in a tale of love, liberation and opera.

"...As a barometer of just how quickly societal mores can change, "Doctor" holds great sociological interest. However, it is a tonally haphazard piece that vacillates between the cartoonish and the quotidian, never quite settling into a consistent voice. Director John Henry Davis and a committed cast try to bridge the stylistic gaps in their material, but their efforts are only partially successful."

"...Based on the production which opened last weekend at the Zephyr Theatre, it turns out this inspired and clever story is the only good thing about Glass's unwieldy, cumbersome, inauthentic, heavy-handed, transparent script, which is overarched with operatic melodrama. The play, which tries to be so much that it collapses under the weight of its good intentions, isn't helped by John Henry Davis's confusing and inappropriate direction, which allows some actors to play characters as grossly offensive stereotypes."
