In this romantic comedy, Elliot, a computer scientist, builds a computer program to help Molly, a molecular biologist, with her research project, only to find that the variables in their relationship shift as rapidly as their experiment. Elliot and Molly "meet cute" at complicated times in their love and personal lives, and, in their professional collaboration as problem-solving scientists, they grapple with the unsolvable nature of life's biggest equation: how to pair.

"...The production is excellent and sports a very talented cast in the persons of Steven Klein, Emily Swallow, Nicole Erb and Rob Nagle. First I congratulate them on just memorizing the dialogue. Secondly, with the help of director Matt Pfeiffer, making sense of it all. The set, the lighting, and the costumes are all terrific. My biggest qualm is that the play starts to resemble a theoretical puzzle rather than a play. Over time all that computer-speak gets a bit wearing. Nevertheless I enjoyed myself and the wonderful cast. This may not be everyone's cup of tea but for those who like a challenge and a chance to see some wonderful acting, by all means head down to the Black Dahlia to see this intriguing play."

In lesser hands, Completeness might turn out to be anything but complete, but this mounting is blessed with a quartet of exquisitely multilayered, bittersweet performances that honor and match its author's tech-swollen dialogue. His jigsaw puzzle of a play is able to rise above its inherent traps thanks to the commitment of its obviously driven cast, the understated but passionate vision of director Matt Pfieffer, and Darcy Scanlin's incredibly smart, strikingly spare, versatile set design ingeniously filling VS. Theatre Company's challenging playing space."
