Patrick Marber's 1997 play Closer, set in London, involves a love quadrangle. There's Alice, an exotic dancer (played by Stephanie Noel Garrison); Dan, a writer (Hamish Sturgeon); Anna, a photographer (Natalie Mitchell); and Larry, a dermatologist (Randy Vasquez). The couples, who sometimes switch partners in what seems like near-abandon, go through periods of love, affection, lust, devotion, deceit, betrayal, abandonment, romance, manipulation, obsession and game-playing. Can true love survive this much turmoil?
