A Los Angeles Dodgers game is broadcast by a blithely detached announcer during the onset of nuclear winter. The Grand Kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan prefers to learn golf fully hooded and robed. All-American football great Conquistador O'Malley abandons the gridiron for the seductive, near-naked sport of springboard diving. A network sports producer attempts to coerce a Jewish female member of an Olympic field hockey team into pretending that she has a connection with an anti-Semite. A sports commentator copes with gender transition. Hey, it could happen---and it actually does---in this delightfully quirky, surreal play.

"...Playwright Chuck Faerber should be applauded for including the many current day issues that he squeezes into this 90-minute BALL YARDS, a collection of semi-related sketches, some succeeding more than others. This world premiere comedy directed by Richard Kuhlman tackles: anti-Semitism, the Ku Klux Klan, transgender transitioning, marketing spin at its most transparent desperation, drug trafficking, feminism."

"...The writing is a bit uneven, the targets are often obvious and predictable, and not all the sketches come off, but enough of them score to keep the audience amused. The expert ensemble makes the most of the material they are given, with special praise for Marzilli, Wood, and Shea. Director Richard Kuhlman clearly has an affinity for the material, and gives it a lively production."

"...With a lot going on, a scattered focus, and an occasionally lumbering pace, Ball Yards tries the patience. Director Richard Kuhlman gets the most out of his talented, enthusiastic cast, and the show does indeed coalesce to a satisfying conclusion in the last half hour or so of the eighty-five minute run time. There is treasure here, but it needs refining."
