"...In her emotionally astute staging, director Robin Larsen sets her dream cast loose upon Albee's fascinating, frustrating material, which ranges from the boozily meandering to the brilliant."

"...Had the decision been made to set the show in its original time period it would have been more successful on a nostalgic level. The problems of the group are quaint as a reflection but not as a present day reality. As an audience member you never feel fully vested or involved in the group's predicament. Yet, it's not a complete failure and it does have Albee's infamous word play and some very good performances. But, and it is a big but, is it worth 2 ½ hours of your time? That's a delicate conundrum."

"...Albee managed the difficult feat of being muskily dated and vanguardishly visionary at the same time. Nearly a half century later, it has grown inordinately antique yet perhaps more scathingly pertinent than ever. It's rarely revived, and this manicured yet powerful mounting makes a splendid case for its place in the canon of American theater."

"...A superb, superbly-directed cast not only manage to survive an overlong, overly talky first act that perhaps no contemporary playwright could get away with, they go on to make theatrical magic as the Odyssey Theatre presents A Delicate Balance, Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize-winning musings on the nature of family and friendship-and the responsibilities that each entails."

"...And yet as the Act 3 lights fade on Larsen's well-framed family tableau, it's painfully obvious that despite all that has gone on, what has been witnessed is nothing more than an unalterably cyclical tragedy."

"...Though Tobias' epiphanous upheaval gives the play its climactic fulcrum, the character of Agnes provides plenty of opportunities for Sullivan to show why any production lucky enough to get her is worth getting to see. She helps Larsen's well-modulated staging move by briskly, belying its near three-hour length."

"...This revival of Albee's 1966 Pulitzer-Prize-winning play, A Delicate Balance, is noteworthy for many reasons, beginning with its superb cast, who handle the playwright's tart, literary dialogue with seemingly effortless ease and skill. They also deliver performances that breathe vigorous life into characters that border on caricature."

"...Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning "A Delicate Balance," currently at the Odyssey, rivets with two engaging female performances."

"...In the end, it comes down to the very private conversation that Albee's work has with each and every individual playgoer. And anyone willing to enter into that dialogue will find in this production at the Odyssey that the conversation is articulated with crystal clarity."

"...Never bet against the Odyssey Theatre putting on a terrific show. Its current run of A Delicate Balance is among several productions I've seen there in the past five years that pairs a phenomenally talented cast with a clever script that will provoke conversation among audience members for weeks to come."

"...Robin Larsen (Director) executes the production with precision, and she keeps the high standards of the Odyssey we have learned to expect. "A Delicate Balance" is timeless theater with well-trained actors and a highly competent crew."
