"...Director Denise Devins' staging of the venerable story isn't a rote re-telling but a reawakening-for once, you're watching actors who get why this tale means something to you and me, right here and right now. It's a fast-paced one-act that blazes through the narrative in just under an hour, but it gets things right."

"...The whole ensemble does a fine job, not really in exploring the dark recesses of the Human Condition, but in telling this story. This specific, hope-laden tale intended to move and give comfort, reminding us of the light in the dark and the warmth amid the chill. Kudos to everyone, such as Gloria Galvan, Patrick Albanesius, Sarah Kessler, Kelly Rhone, Kevin Pollard Jr., and A.J. Sclafani, each of whom played a variety of roles and managed to make it clear to us that fact. No small feat, incidentally. This story can be so very cloying, so by-the-numbers. But this production, with this cast and crew, summon up the magic that made Dickens novella re-read to this day, over 175 years since it first appeared in print."

"...I should not be surprised, that Zombie Joe's Underground Theatre delivered a powerful performance. In a way I'm not, and I am. ZJU are masters of the macabre, and avante garde. They are so good at the edgy fringe of theatre that it's easy to forget, they are also a proper playhouse, with talented writers, directors, and actors. I think this is a good thing in a way. One gets so used to the macabre, and strange, that when a classical work is put forward it's that much more powerful, because they can consistently deliver powerful classical theatre. It's a treat to be reminded how talented and versatile the folks at Zombie Joe's Underground Theatre Group are."
